After a successful National Lottery Grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Cerne Historical Society have announced plans for their Centenary Exhibition and Celebrations. Events to mark the centenary of the most important juncture in the village history includes the village Horticultural Society Annual Show, concerts and the Annual Village Cricket Match. More details on the key events are:
- This year the annual Village Cricket Match will be hosted on the 30th June and as part of the celebrations a band has been booked and everyone is being asked to go along in period dress.
- The 24th September 2019 marks 100 years since the Pitt-Rivers family sold their plots in the village at Dorchester Town Hall. From the 24th September 2019 for 12 days visitors will be able to visit the exhibition being held at St Mary’s Church, just a short drive from our camping site in Cerne Abbas.
- On the 28th September 2019 there will be a period re-enactment of the 1919 auction, this will be held at St Mary’s Church at 2pm.
